Young basketball trainers in Laos will be able to pass on more skill to their junior players after training part in the FIBA basketball coaching clinic level 1 in Vientiane between October 22 and 28.

The coaching clinic is being attended by basketball trainers and players from Vientiane Secondary School, from Savanakhet, Luangphabang and Champasak  provinces and from the Lao Basketball Federation.

This is the first opportunity that the trainers here have had to work with such a top quality FIBA instructor as Mr. Michael Haynes from Australia. The coaching clinic will provide a very solid basic for the local trainers which will allow them to work with and develop the young players and build them up to become the national players of the future

The coaching clinic has been organized by the Lao Basketball Federation which supported by FIBA Asia and National Olympic Committee of Laos

The clinic began with the press conference at the office of the National Olympic Committee of Laos on Thursday which was attended by The vice President and Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Laos, Mr, Somphou PHONGSA and Lao Basketball Federation Secretary General, Dr. Alongkhone PHENGSAVANH.

NOUL passes on University Games baton to Champassak

The 1st Lao University Games hosted by National University of Laos (NOUL) came to a successful conclusion on Tuesday evening when the games’ flag was passed to Champassak University

Champassak University will have the opportunity to host the 2nd Lao University Game in 2019. The well attended closing ceremony was a fitting climax to the sporting competition featuring musical performances, dancing and a handover of the games’ flag from NOUL to Champassak University officials.

The first university games ran from March 5-15 featuring football, badminton, table tennis, basketball, futsal, petanque, taekwondo, volleyball and beach volleyball, basketball, plus track and field events. The closing ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Education and Sports Ms Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, Deputy governor of Champassak Province Mr. Boualin Vongphachanh, Deputy Ministry of Education and Sports Mr. Boualane Silipanya, NOUL President Professor Dr. Soukkongseng Saignaleuth and senior officials from the ministry.

NOUL finished on top of the medals with 35 gold, 26 silver and 46 bronze medals. Heath Sciences University was second with 16 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze medals with Police Academy in the third place with 14 gold, 11 silvers and 15 bronze medals

Dr. Soukkongseng praised the athletes for the friendly atmosphere of the games and respect of the competition rules. Dr. Soukkongseng also thanked the Laos University Sports Federation, Competition organizing committee and the universities for making the 1st University Game success. “ We are now able select the best athletes from the games to be representatives of NOUL at the Asian University Games in Singapore in June and the World University Games in the future ” he added

Meanwhile, Champassak Province officials said they were eager to host the nextgame. “ We are honored to invite the leaders and athletic teams from many universities and colleges to attend in the 2nd university games in our province in 2019 ” Mr, Boualin Said.

He believed the 2nd games would be an opportunity to build good relationships and solidarity amongst teachers and students from many universities and hoped it would be well supported.

The 1st university games featured 1.455 students and trainers (1,091 males and 364 females) from LungPhrabang, Sasvannakhet and Chanpassak provincial universities, along with the Army Academy and Police Acedemy, Health Sciences University, government institution, private colleges and host NUOL.

After Champassak University host the 2nd Lao University Games in 2019 the 3rd game are scheduled to be hosted by Souphanovong University of LungPrabang province in 2022 and the 4th games will be host by Savannakhet University in 2025.

NUOL was established on November 5, 1996 and Currently has 1,965 officials and teachers from 12 faculties and 25,054 students. Champassak University was established in 2002.

The on of Executive committee of National Olympic Committee of Laos (NOCL) was held on Wednesday 9th 2015 at conference room of NOCL presided by H.E Phankham VIPHAVANH Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Sports, President of NOCL, there were Executive Committee members of NOCL, including Executives Board of each National Sports Federation of Laos (NSFs) Participated, which consisted of 36 Federations

On this on all Executive Committee members of NOCL listened for the reporting from each Executive Committee members about six month early year action plan in 2015 as a following below.   

  • Mr. Souphou PHONGSA Vice President and Secretariat General of NOCL  reported about the implement of yearly plan of Olympic Laos movement in six month early year and present a plan for last year plan.
  • Mr. Kasem INTHARA Deputy Secretariat General, Head of International Relationship of NOCL had reported about relation and cooperation with IOC , OCA  SEAGF and other National Olympic Committee counties
  • Mr. Sengphone PHONAMATH Deputy Secretariat General, Member of Technical reported about the participating to Sea Game 28th in Singapore and preparing to attend Asian Game, Beach Asian Game and Youth Olympic Game
  • Mr. Sithath CHANTHABOULY reported about the activities of Sport for all especially was the activities On Olympic Day
  • Dr. Alongkhone PHENGSAVANH Deputy Chairman of  Medical and Sciences reported about the medical of Olympic Laos  especially physical checking for anti-doping in athletic
  • Mr. Phouvanh VONGSOUTHI Chairman of finance and Treasurer of NOCL reported about an audit statement of financial especially budget in 6 months of 2015

Before closing of the on there was opened the floor to  all executive committee members exchange the idea and discussion about the improving and resole in some weak point which it’s to  be better as well on processing of Laos sports to be strengthen to the International level in the future.

Sports Administrators Course for Borlikhamxay province be upgraded skill in guidance- leading role and the importance of Sport to society and developing work plan in sport  movement.

On Tuesday 10th  November 2015 at conference room in Borlikhamxay province was opened Sports Administrators Course for Borlikhamxay province

presided by Mr. Bounmark PHANDANOUVONG  Deputy Director General of Provincial Education and Sports Mr. Somphou PHONGSA   Assistant to deputy Prime Minister, Vice President and Secretary General of NOCL, Mr. Southamone INTHAVONG Deputy Director General of National Olympic Committee Relationship Department. There were attended by officers of Education and Sports in Borlikhamxay Province, including sports administrators within Province and from 8 districts in Borlikhamxay province.

            On this occasion, Mr. Bounmark PHANDANOUVONG Deputy Director General of Provincial Education and Sports addressed to the opening ceremony this course is armed to upgrade skills in the governance and leading the role of sports in society, the participation sports movement in the city, each university and schools around the province to be developed property. To prepare the selection athletes with high potential and have good talent to represent the province for participating the competition in each levels.

The purpose of this course is to promote enhance knowledge for administrators in Borlikhamxay province especially is indicated the important of sport to society, The benefit of sport to individuals, Key role in sport organization, Sport leadership, Resolving the problems, Sport strategic planning, The implementation sports strategic development of province and etc … In addition the participants were also learned more about Organizing an event, Managing the game, Managing and operating facilities, Planning sports trip and Developing athletes ……….

After ending of the course all participants had received a certificate of  their attendances

National Olympic Committee of Laos ( NOCL) Celebrate the 121st anniversary of the International Olympic Day

         

      National Olympic Committee of Laos (NOCL) organized activities for sport in walking for health, doing aerobic exercise and cheerleading to celebrate the 121st anniversary  of the International Olympic Day, the event was hold on 27 June 2015 at National University Stadium areas, presided by   H.E Dr. Phankham VIPHAVANH    Deputy Prime Minister, President of NOCL. Which were participated by Deputy Ministers, Director General, 

Director of Department, Deans of National University under Ministry of Education and Sports, including students, teachers, officers in University and villagers join in this activities for more than 3000 participants

        On the occasion of ceremony Mr. Somphou PHONGSA, assistant of Deputy Prime Minister, Vice President and Secretariat General of NOCL gave a briefly remark about Olympic Day, especially to celebrate establishment of the 121st anniversary of the International Olympic Day ( 23 June 1894 – 23 June 2015)  and also remarks 36th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Laos (NOCL) recognized as a member of IOC since 1979.

           

      The objective of this activities is to promote the teenager, young people as well as the NOUL Students interested in doing physical education exercise and playing sports to as healthy, without illness and avoid from undesirable abuse of all participants. Before walking there was a demonstration of cheerleading group and all participants doing aerobic exercises, after that started walking about two kilo meters from the National University Stadium a long through the National University compass and returned to starting point.

            After finished activities it had a presentation of certificates to participants in this event.

On Monday 19th  October 2015 at conference room in Luangprabang province was opened Sports Administrators Course for Luangprabang province presided by Mr. Eun LORSAVANH Director General of Provincial Education and Sports Mr. Kasem INTHARA  Deputy Secretary General of  NOCL, Ms. Boualong SAKPRASUETH Deputy Director General of National Olympic Committee Relationship Department. There were attended by officers of Education and Sports of Luangprabang Province, including sports administrators within Province and from 10 districts in Luangprabang province had participated.

            The purpose of this course is to promote enhance knowledge for administrators in Luangprabang province especially is indicated the important of sport to society, The benefit of sport to individuals, Key role in sport organization, Sport leadership, Resolving the problems, Sport strategic planning,  The implementation strategic development province and etc … In addition the participants were also learned more about Organizing an event, Managing the game, Managing and operating facilities, Planning sports trip and Developing athletes ……….

IOC and OCA representative visit NOC administration Officers

International Olympic Committee (IOC), representative Mr. Olivier Niamkey and Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Representative Mr. Vahid Kardady visited National Olympic Committee of Laos (NOCL) on 9-12 February, 2015. The event was hold at meeting room of NOC to meet with NOC Executive Board, representatives of National Sports Federations and some NOC standing Committees, The representative IOC & OCA also courtesy call to Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Phankham VIPHAVANH the president of NOCL.

This visit is aimed at actuary a more in-depth knowledge about our NOCL and thereby will serve to improve the coordination and assistance, as well as to make sure that the NOCL is fulfilling duties toward the Olympic movement. This mission is also conducted a general evaluation of NOCL as subject to be discussed are followed:

  • Institutional. The NOCL’s rights and obligation & deriving from the obligation of being of the Olympic movement.
  • Administration and internal organizational structure of the NOCL.
  • Political and Social environment- the NOCL’s position and relationship within the country and the Olympic movement.
  • Finance – The use of the Olympic Solidarity / IOC funds, budget control, accounting and financial procedure and audit requirements.
  • Activities, the activities developed by NOCL on day-to-day basic and the NOCL’s approach to its primary mission to send athletes to Olympic game.

      Later on the IOC’s representative has visited the talented sport school to see the real situation of the process in learning and training of students. Afterward the delegation has visited the National Training Center and National Sport Complex to understand the basic reality of sport development in Lao PDR.
